Studio visit

Visitors are welcome to Amanda's studio by prior arrangement throughout the year, please contact or call 01736 810485. You could also visit during Cornwall Open Studios which happens in late May each year.

Set among the riotous gardens that surround both house and studio there is always a taste of the artwork within as you approach the studio. In the courtyard garden between studio and house there are masses of pots and these can be brought into the studio so that Amanda can work directly from growing plants. Other flowers and leaves are brought in from the artist's large and abundant gardens.

The studio was custom built and is flooded with light. There is enough floor space to accommodate large commissions.

Having just the right fabric to hand has always seemed the ideal situation and this, together with a passion for fabrics means the storage areas are stacked high with gorgeous fabrics waiting to be hand dyed. The pile of hand dyed fabrics is always present and is selected for each piece of artwork. Boxes of fabric from previous projects are sorted through and then further fabric dyed so that all the surfaces and gradations of tone and colour are present at the beginning of a project. The walls are always hung with an array of original art and more can be selected to view from an iPad.

As well as the visual experience of seeing the art in its setting there is also the invaluable opportunity to talk to the artist about the inspiration for her work and how it is created.
