Autumn Floating By

This textile collage contains several new elements for me. I spent many days dyeing the satin for the river to convey both the stones on the river bed and the sunken leaves. I then 'floated' leaves on the water's surface with ripples anchoring the leaves to the river. Flowering grasses arch over the water and I have laced these with a spider's web, learning just how much to add and take away of the fine silver-grey satin. The elusive quality of cobwebs is so much of their fascination and the shimmering satin conveys this quality, shining forth then fading in changing light.
